Down Syndrome Resource Foundation

DSRF’s Employment Support Program offers one to one, personalized support for individuals whether seeking employment, needing support in their current job, or working on specific employment goals leading to promotion or new job opportunities.


We offer instruction and coaching to obtain meaningful paid employment. Individual sessions focus on identifying skills and interests, resume building, applying for a position, and interviewing. Our employment support specialists provide hands-on support and training to employers, managers, and co-workers. They also assess the work environment for appropriate modifications and adaptations to support the job seeker. Once employment commences, support and check-ins with both the job seeker and the workplace will ensure a smooth transition into the workforce.

Jobs West is an employment program affiliated with Developmental Disabilities Association. Jobs West has been in operation since 1985 and works with employers and adults with developmental disabilities.

Links to Employment helps job seekers with persistent and multiple barriers reach their goals of obtaining meaningful training, volunteer work, and/or employment. The program provides a full range of support and services that are incorporated into a comprehensive treatment plan that is delivered through a Primary Care Centre.

 

Employment can be central to an individual’s recovery and growth as employment is a structured, purposeful activity that can enhance self-esteem and a sense of well-being within society. Employment and education are also a vital aspect of fostering connection, wellness, and resilience for members of a diverse community.


Launched in 2020, the Links to Employment program is a partnership between the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division (CMHA BC) and the University of British Columbia (UBC).

BC Centre for Employment Excellence

The BC Centre for Employment Excellence is based in Vancouver and set up as a division of the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation, an established national non-profit, non-partisan, social policy research organization.


The Centre was created to meet the knowledge and development needs of the employment services sector and the employer community in British Columbia on issues related to employment programs and practices.


The BC Centre for Employment Excellence is funded in whole or in part by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia under the Canada–BC Labour Market Development Agreement.

CBI Consultants

L.E.A.P. is a FREE employment program for youth and young adults developed by CBI Consultants and funded by the Employment and Social Development Canada for the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Program with a focus on youth facing employment barriers. The youth or young adults may be living with developmental and mental health challenges, be Indigenous or have other barriers to employment.


The program is offered in the Greater Vancouver Area by CBI Consultants, as well as Edmonton, Alberta and Kenora, Ontario through WJ Stelmaschuk and Associates Ltd (WJS).
